About the Download

This is a very basic example of a 2D section where the area is user input to the definition and hence fixed. It shows how to use an internal optimization engine to match the area objective. In order to calculate the target area, the 2D section needs to be designed as a closed curve. As a free variable, the x-position of a control vertex is varied automatically. The vertex is part of the bspline curve that shapes the section.

Example applications are a volute section for turbochargers and pumps, or any kinds of ducts where a cross section area distribution needs to be matched.
